Experiences on Banana cultivation as an intercrop
Almost one half of land area is covered with banana cultivation as an intercrop. The center of four coconut plants was selected to dig 2cm X 2cm X 2 cm pits. Compost and surface soil are used to filled up the pits. 100 banana plants purchased by another farmer were planted during the rainy session. Plants consisted of several verities such as Ambum, Kolikuttu, Pualu, Seeni and Ambul.
Finding the plant sellers was the difficult task for this cultivation. Social media helped to acquire information on banana plants sellers and their prices. However, after negotiations with the plant seller, arrangements were made finally to purchase the plants. Price of the plants varied as per the variety of banana.
Obtaining guidance by agricultural experts is a serious hindrance for new cultivators. Articles or instructions written on this cultivation can be used for reference as an answer for this problem.
